Everything starts in the mind. -This is why "mind matters most".
Its called mind volition or will.

Its a cognitive process by which an individual decides on and commits to a particular course of action. These decisions (which are done constantly moment to moment, consciously and unconsciously) are as a result of our conditioning.

Now when we are unaware of our processing and thoughts we remain in a reactive state. A state most of society finds itself in. This is the unconscious state. This causes volitional behaviours to come through. These are behaviours caused by information that has been adjusted by the central nervous system.

Makes sense doesn’t it. If we are unconscious, simply going around reacting to life, without taking a moment to reflect or be mindful about our situations, emotions, thoughts and perceptions. We are in-fact reacting out of habit or autopilot.

To understand this we need to understand its functions:

This state comes from our reaction centers, the nervous system. This includes pretty much our whole lives, such as, affect (feeling or emotion), motivation (goals and expectations), and cognition (thinking).

Our nervous system stores and holds these core reactions. Why ?? To keep us safe of course. However, holding onto things unmindfully isn’t helpful and we will remain reactive. Meaning, we will remain unaware of our own cause and effect patterns.

Everything we use day to day, moment to moment, causing our unconscious habits to form deeper and deeper as time goes on. Then you guessed it.. this causes our behaviours, the way we decide to do or not to do certain things.

It isn’t authentically us ! Wow mindful awareness really does tap into the very core of who we are as functioning beings. Always amazes me.

This is why I say “we think actions speak louder than words, but thoughts speak louder than actions”.

If thoughts are the manufacturer, words are the distributor, then actions are the consumer. If the product wasn’t manufactured, then there would be no end result to act on, “more like to react to”.

We are the manufacturers of our realities.

These volitional processes can be applied consciously or they can be automatized as habits over time. – This is important to remember.

However through a mindfulness practice, along with the necessary inner self work, we can have the ability to choose our thoughts, and do so wisely. In-order to have that life where we can show up as our authentic full selves. A conscious life where you are thriving moment to moment, day to day. Instead of surviving. A state where the whole holistic body (mind/body/soul system) is calm and connected.

I hope that this read encourages you to understand the power of your thoughts. So that you can go to the root cause of it all and make changes where needed. The rest will flow accordingly.
